Question Can you please explain an SBIR/STTR grant?

Question SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research)/STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) grants are valuable sources of funds designed to fund research with potential for commercialization. Phase I grants are six-month (SBIR) and one-year (STTR) $100,000 projects aimed at establishing technical merit and feasibility. Phase II grants ($500,000 to $750,000 range) are aimed at continuing successful Phase I projects. STTR requires research partners at a non-profit research institution, where the principal investigator in the SBIR program must be with a small business concern.
