Question Our company has developed a new product that has four novel but distinct features that we would like to patent. What is the most cost effective way?

Question Although you can get a separate patent for each feature, to save costs you may consider describing all of them in a single application that includes claims to each of the features and the product as a whole. Only one filing fee is involved. However, during examination, the Patent Examiner may require a restriction among some or all of the different ideas and force the filing of separate applications and payment of additional fees. Restriction is discretionary.
