Question I understand that under the newly-passed patent law, the Patent and Trademark Office is going to publish all US patent applications that are filed abroad. I don't want my competitors to see the claims I want to get in the US. What can I do?

Question Depending on how long it takes the USPTO to act, you may be able to file your application with a limited set of claims, and have those claims published. However, be warned that the USPTO also is required, under the new law, to act much more quickly on patent applications than it has in the past. As a result, you may not have this luxury.
