Does recruiting exclusively via the Internet protect our company from discrimination lawsuits by unsuccessful applicants?
Not necessarily. Although cyber-recruiting allows an employer to quickly reach a wide audience, unrestricted by geography, studies have shown that the vast majority of online job seekers are younger, affluent, educated males. This type of recruiting, then, may not create a diverse pool of candidates. In addition, the use of resume scanning and screening software has been challenged as discriminatory. You may be better served by supplementing traditional methods, not replacing them, with cyber-recruiting.
