Question If I come up with a new way of doing business, may I obtain patent protection?

Question It depends. A method of doing business is not in and of itself protectable. If the method of doing business involves the utilization of technology, such as the Internet, it may be protectable. For example, if the method of doing business involves the utilization of a number of distinct steps which may be established through computer programming in conjunction with the Internet, those discreet steps may themselves be patentable as a method of doing business utilizing technology.
